Quand votre chien vous lèche au visage, aux mains ou d’autres parties du corps, c’est souvent pour vous témoigner son attachement. Toutefois, le léchage a plusieurs autres significations. Il est important d’apprendre à déchiffrer cet élément de base du langage canin pour comprendre son animal et savoir lui répondre de manière appropriée.

Se mettre à lécher des invités fait partie des mauvaises habitudes à traiter le plus tôt possible, comme le fait de leur sauter dessus pour les accueillir. Si vous estimez que les léchages de votre chien sont source de dérangement, incitez-le à arrêter en lui adressant un « non » ferme, assorti du geste de la main. S’il n’obéit pas, ignorez-le et éloignez-vous un instant. Attendez ensuite qu’il se calme et revenez vers lui pour le stopper à nouveau s’il reprend les léchages.
